Biography
Sabrena Wright has had a lifelong passion for design, particularly in the world of textiles. She has been designing and sewing since the age of five.
Sabrena has a background in Industrial Design and has been recognized by the Seattle Times as one of Washington state’s outstanding female designers. She has designed medical devices, kitchenware, computer and electronic accessories. Her designs are sold all over the world.
In 2000, Sabrena started designing and sewing handbags for friends and to give as gifts. The bags were such a hit that she decided to start her own business. Using unlikely objects (such as an old wool blanket, a 1940’s era curtain, and a used belt) from local thrift stores, Sabrena started making unique purses and bags, selling them locally at specialty boutiques, art galleries, and street fairs. She creates all of her handbags using only recycled and remnant textiles and leather, then sews them on refurbished vintage Singer sewing machines. The City Kitty philosophy is that recycling can be a lovely thing.

Mission Statement
Reclaimed, recycled and vintage fabrics and leather are selected for their uniqueness, quality and character. After a thorough cleaning, the inner and outer fabrics are matched and a suitable handbag pattern is chosen. The process of matching fabrics is the start of the individual story each handbag holds. Through the process of cutting and sewing each handbag, the artist reflects on where the materials came from, the era in which they were originally used and the new life they will see. Once the handbag body is complete, a suitable leather belt is attached with grommets to form the handle. This completes the story and each handbag is given a name that holds a hint to its past or future.
Each year, Sabrena creates two new handbag designs to add to the line.
